Priority Franklin Roads Identified in Safe Streets 4 All

Bike/Walk Franklin reports that the City of Franklin’s Safe Streets 4 All planning process is nearly complete. Experts have identified sections of five priority roads that would most benefit from safety interventions, which will allow the city to pursue federal grant dollars. We’ve mapped the roads above: Murfreesboro Road, Columbia Avenue, Mallory Lane, West Main Street, and Carothers Parkway.

A sample of the report presented to BOMA last month examined Murfreesboro Road and noted the discontinuous sidewalks (pictured) among other challenges. The full report should be submitted to the city later this month, and we look forward to seeing what safety countermeasures are suggested to protect people walking and biking. WKRN News 2 covered the city’s work to improve traffic safety and interviewed our committee president for the story.
