Grand Finale Ride!
Hillsboro Elementary School, 5412 Pinewood Road, Franklin 37064
This Saturday, Weldon Godfrey has designed three great routes for our Grand Finale ride, with options of 39, 50, and 60 miles! All three stay together going out Leipers Creek, up Sulphur Springs, and down Snow Creek to the rest stop at mile 17 at the Santa Fe Market. Then the Short route goes through the village, up Fly Road, up Fly Hollow, and then back in by the Old Trace and the fun run on Davis Hollow. Meanwhile, the 50-miler adds about a dozen miles by going west on Snow Creek to the southern end of Leipers Creek, proceeds through Water Valley, and rejoins the Short route on Fly Road. Finally, there is a 60-mile option that diverts to Jones Valley, goes over to Leatherwood, and then goes down Tom Rail, up Shoals Branch, down Pewitt, and up Backbone Ridge. CAUTION - The 60-mile route has some rough sections on Leatherwood Road, so only the more intrepid riders should attempt it!
.
We will continue the Collegial Ride, designed for riders who prefer to go at a bit calmer rate! This Saturday Amy Crownover will lead the Collegial riders at a 14-16 mph pace on the 39-mile route.
Here are the maps and cue sheets:

October HBC Social
Carving & Cocktails
Fall is in the air and it’s time for another HBC Social! Please join us on Saturday, October 26, for a “Carving and Cocktails” gathering at the Keffer’s. We will enjoy yummy food, cocktails, and pumpkin carving. It doesn’t get much scarier than combining cocktails and sharp knives to kickoff Halloween!
We will serve warm bowls of homemade chili and taco soup. We are counting on you to bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert to share. Also BYOB and a pumpkin to carve if you like. Carving utensils and patterns will be provided to get you started, so also bring your creativity and let your imagination be your guide.(pro-tip, gut your pumpkin ahead of time so the messy part will already be done!)
There will be a fire in the firepit. Bring a chair to sit and enjoy a beautiful fall evening with your fellow cyclists!.
