Saturday, Aug. 31 - 7:30 A.M. for all routes, including Collegial ride
Return to South Harpeth!
Grassland Middle School, 2390 Hillsboro Road, Franklin 37069

For this Saturday, Russ Welty will lead us to explore the brand new pavement on South Harpeth, one of the best roads around!  For several years it has been impassable because of bridge construction and rough pavement.  But now the bridge is complete and the surface is smooth!  There are options of 52 and 39 miles, starting from Grassland Middle School at 7:30.  Both routes go the full length of South Harpeth and turn onto CC and Brush Creek roads.  From there, the Short route turns across another new bridge on Forest Road, retraces some of South Harpeth, and takes on the fun run and eventual climb at the end of Hester Beasley.

Meanwhile the Long riders turn onto CCC Road, and if they have geared down for the short but steep (20%+) climb, they should be able to make it up the hill!  Then they go to Fairview for a rest stop at mile 27 and take Fairview Road up and down to Fernvale.  Then they'll weave around on Old Harding, up Hwy. 96, and through High Point Ridge back to the Old Trace and lovely Moran Road.

We continue our Saturday Collegial Ride option, which will also start at 7:30 . This ride is again drawing very nice turnouts.  The ride takes a shorter course for those who like to proceed at a bit calmer pace, led by experienced leaders who make sure everyone is on course, and with regrouping when appropriate.  This Saturday Bob Whitmer will lead the Collegial option at a 14-15 mph pace on the 39-mile Short route.
