For this Saturday, Board member Bruce Green has another adventure in store for us. In order to let the roads dry out from Hurricane Laura, the starting time has been changed to 8:00. We'll go by Burwood and have a beautiful ride to Spring Hill on Dr. Robertson, past a horse farm on the right with 30-40 horses, followed by the Kurt Scott Hotel, "Love Grows Here," at the top of the hill. Then there is a short jog on Beechcroft Road, so be cautious of traffic there. Also be careful on a couple of railroad crossings. A few more turns and we will pass by the old Saturn plant that is now a GM plant.
At the end of Cleburne there are a couple of antique stores. Then we have a long climb on Theta Pike, followed by a descent with rough road and potholes at the bottom, so be careful there. We'll continue onto Darks Mill, Roberts Bend, and then Tom Fitzgerald before the rest stop in Santa Fe at mile 33. (This is the only rest stop/store. There is a store very early on at Huff's in Burwood at mile 8.3.)
From Santa Fe we will climb Fly Rd. and Fly Hollow, a narrow, rough road with potholes, so exercise caution there too. Then there's the nice, long, up-and-down course on the Old (real) Natchez Trace, before coming in via Bending Chestnut and Garrison.
Please stop at all stop signs. We will be crossing several busy roads and highways. Here's the cue sheet:
"Mrs. Robertson, You're Trying to Seduce Me to Darks Mill and Back" - 55 miles - GPS
