HBC to the "Bluff"

  • Fairview Elementary School 2640 Fairview Blvd Fairview, TN (map)

Our ride leaders have been presenting us with amazing and adventurous routes this summer, and from past experience we know that Wade Buttrey's route for this Saturday will be no exception!  Wade's route is 53 miles long and takes us from Fairview through Kingston Springs with the destination of White Bluff.  It is a varied course and there won't be much traffic!  Just watch for the steep 20%+ descent at the end of CCC Road down to the stop sign and left turn onto Brush Creek!  Rest stops are available at miles 20 and 26.

Wade has provided these details about the course and places where you should pay special attention:

  1. Mile 8.2 - End of Lake Road is Hwy 96 with narrow shoulder.  You have to go about 200 yards to turn back onto Cleveland.

  2. Mile 14.3 - End of CCC Road.  There is a sign that says "Stop Ahead" as you approach the very steep descent!

  3. Mile 20 - Possible rest stop.

  4. Mile 22.4 - Keep left.  There's no sign so you can pass it up if not looking closely.

  5. Mile 26.9 - Rest Stop.

  6. Mile 32.6 - Cross major Hwy. 96 again for only about 50 yards.

  7. Mile 37.8 - Jump Off Road is at the bottom of a hill and is marked but easy to miss.  On previous rides a lot of the group missed the turn.

  8. Mile 50.5 - Cross major Hwy. 100 – Hard to see, so use caution!

Because it will again be hot, riders are welcome to start earlier if they so desire.  This also aids our protocol of riding in small groups.  Wade will take care of the regular contingent leaving at 8:00.  Here is the route:
