Saturday, Dec. 21 - 9:00 A.M. - Polar Bear Ride - Winter Solstice Sojourn! - Clovercroft Elementary School, 9336 Clovercroft Rd., Franklin 37067 - On the shortest day of the year, we'll return to the east side for an adventure over to Almaville. There are options of 36 and 52 miles, and the routes are concurrent to the Almaville Market at mile 20. Along the way we'll ride glorious Burke Hollow, where the view in winter is impressive and the 2-mile descent is fun if you can make it up the short, steep climb in the middle! Then we'll pick up some paw-paws on a scenic and fairly hilly course over in Rutherford County. The Almaville Market will be a nice rest stop for everyone, and then you can choose either the 36-mile or the 52-mile route. The Short route is not necessarily easier, however, since those riders will tackle Spanntown Road before they come back by Osburn Road. Meanwhile, the Long route will take riders on the nice run on South Windrow, the fun ups and downs of Taliaferro, and the new pavement on Cox Road. Here are the cue sheets:
Winter Solstice Sojourn - Long route - 52 miles - GPS
Short route - 36 miles - GPS
