A Different Way to Santa Fe!
Hillsboro Elementary School in Leipers Fork, 5412 Pinewood Road, Franklin 37064
There’s a patch of rain to the west that appears headed to our riding area. But it should pass through, so the ride start has been delayed until 9:00. Debbie will be there to lead then!
The ride starts down the Trace, and that road should dry quickly if rain does indeed come through.
Our excellent HBC Secretary, Debbie Wason, will lead us down to Santa Fe by a very different route, starting out on the Natchez Trace Parkway. The goal is to reach Bingham Hollow and Akin Ridge, and then to enjoy the smooth pavement all the way on Snow Creek from Williamsport to Santa Fe! After the rest stop at the Market there at mile 34, the route takes several jogs, going up Lewis, down Raleigh Beard, up Fox Branch, and down Garrison. The full route is 53 miles. There is also a 41-mile Medium option that omits Bingham and goes from Hwy. 7 up Fly Road to reach the Market at mile 22. Then it comes back in the same way as the longer route.
We continue our Saturday Collegial Ride option, which will also start at 9:00. This ride is again drawing very nice turnouts. The ride takes a shorter course for those who like to proceed at a bit calmer pace, led by experienced leaders who make sure everyone is on course, and with regrouping when appropriate. This Saturday Bob Whitmer will lead the Collegial option at a 14-15 mph pace on the 39-mile Collegial route below. It follows the Medium option to the rest stop at Santa Fe and then comes home by Gaskill Branch, Skelley, and Leipers Creek.
