Jingle Bell/Winter Solstice Light Tour!

  • Home of Larry Lewis 2527 Ashwood Ave Nashville 37212 United States (map)

Things are shaping up well for our combination social and athletic event on Thursday evening at 6:00!  The temperature is supposed to be around 50 at starting time, with no wind!  You are invited to walk or ride the well decorated streets of Hillsboro Village in Nashville, followed by a hot chocolate social and possibly dinner for those interested.

In surveying the route at ride time yesterday, there was very little traffic on the course that is well lighted by both street lights and Christmas lights!  Below is a 3.1-mile walking route, much of it on sidewalks, that takes in many nice displays,   Bikers may also take this route, and if conditions are favorable and the group desires, the 16.1-mile route below takes riders over to the magical miles of Lynnwood Blvd.

Thursday, Dec. 21 - 6:00 P.M.
Jingle Bell/Winter Solstice Light Tour!

Home of Larry Lewis, 2527 Ashwood Avenue, Nashville 37212

We've had some recent bike tours of the Christmas lights around Franklin, and rumor has it there are some great lights in Nashville too!  For our next pop-up social, our Social Chair Brenda Mikec has arranged for a bike ride (or walk) this Thursday among the abundant decorations in the Hillsboro Village area of our capital city.  It's the shortest day of the year, but things will be bright over there!  The ride and walk will start at 6:00 P.M. at the home of our Ride Chair, Larry Lewis, at 2527 Ashwood Avenue in Nashville.  We'll see the lights in the Village, and if conditions are good, then ride over to see the multitude of lighted trees on Lynnwood Blvd. on the edge of Belle Meade!  This route has been slightly changed from the previous version to take in more displays!

There is plenty of parking along Ashwood Avenue near Larry's house.  The 3.1-mile course is suitable for both walkers and bikers.  This will be a casual, no-drop ride, and we'll stop so you can take photos of some of the remarkable displays.  Then we'll return to Larry's house for hot chocolate and Christmas cookies!  The full route for riding is 16.1 miles.

Helmets, bright headlights, and taillights are MANDATORY for the bike riders!  You are encouraged to decorate your bike too!  Thursday is supposed to be the warmest day of the week, so conditions should be favorable, but you will still want to dress warmly.  Below are the proposed routes.  Folks who prefer not to ride are welcome to come anyway, walk the neighborhood (which is very walkable!), and join us afterwards for refreshments!  No RSVP is necessary but feel free to direct any questions to Larry by responding to this e-mail.  For anyone interested, a group may grab dinner/drinks after at a nearby establishment.
