Contrary to previous messaging, we will have the last Thursday evening ride of the year this week! Since last Thursday's ride was rained out, Fredia and Scott couldn't let the season end on that note! Because of the early sunset, the ride will leave Hunters Bend at 5:00. Be sure to bring a headlight and taillight! The season has passed too quickly!
Thursday, Oct. 12 - 5:00 P.M.
Hunters Bend Ride!
Hunters Bend Elementary School, 2121 Fieldstone Pkwy., Franklin 37069 (corner of Hillsboro Rd. & Fieldstone Pkwy.)
This fun and challenging route takes riders from the north side of Franklin out for a nice run on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Once they've climbed the ramp up to the Trace, riders cross the Big Bridge and mostly descend to Pasquo. Then they travel on the nice bike lane on Temple Rd and along the lovely Old Natchez Trace. The route is 25 miles and attracts both racers and regular riders, but it is NOT for novices. Fredia Barry and Scott Thurston will lead the ride but there is no sweep, so riders are responsible for knowing the route, as detailed below. As always, our leaders will make sure everyone who left the parking lot with our group has returned before they depart after the ride (and go looking for them if necessary). On occasions when the ride must be cancelled, Fredia will send a message by the General List. Again, since daylight is short, the ride will start at 5:00. Riders must bring a headlight and taillight!
Here's the cue sheet:
