Radar shows a patch of rain moving through the area around 8:00. But it looks clear for later this morning. So today's start has been delayed until 9:00.
See you at 9:00 at Westhaven for the regular ride, as well as the easy, no-drop, 28-mile ride led by Jim Keffer.
Saturday, Sept. 24 - 9:00 A.M.
North by South Harpeth!
Westhaven parking lot, 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin - take Hwy. 96 west from Franklin, turn left on Westhaven Blvd. at the traffic light, veer right onto State Blvd., and then take the very first left.
Our President R.J. LoCurto leads our club ride from Westhaven this Saturday. Here is a map to guide you to the parking lot at Westhaven. Westhaven Blvd. is directly across Hwy. 96 from the end of Old Charlotte at the big sign for Gentry Farm. There's a new traffic light there.
Westhaven Map.
The route is a fun one, with much less climbing than last week! There are options of 59, 43, and 28 miles. As noted above, Jim Keffer will lead and sweep the 28-mile route at an easy, no-drop, 13-14 mph pace. The Long and Medium routes stay together until mile 32, both doing the full length of South Lick, the tough climb up Shoals Branch, and the fun run down South Harpeth. Then the 43-miler comes home by Backbone Ridge, while the 59-mile route does the other stretches of South Harpeth before the rolling terrain of Poplar Creek up to McCrory Lane.
Please note: There is about 0.5 mile of new chip-seal at the end of South Lick Creek. It is rideable but there is loose gravel. So go slow and exercise CAUTION there!
