Two Updates:
Possible Road Closure
If you plan on taking Wilson Pike to get to the Saturday ride from the Brentwood area, Walt points out that the first single-lane railroad underpass, just past Clovercroft, is closed this week. It is SUPPOSED to open up by Saturday. If it's not open, the southbound detour is to turn left onto Clovercroft, right onto Tulloss, right back onto Wilson, and finally, left on North Chapel to the park.
Easy Saturday Option
Steve and Joyce Grizzle are leading a cycle-lite version of the Saturday ride, on the regular short route, the Bethesda Bump. They will start at 7:15 and ride at a more moderate speed The course is 34 miles with 1,800 feet of elevation. Steve and Joyce are long-time HBC leaders and will be delighted for you to join them!
The schedule for this weekend:
Saturday, June 25 - 7:00 A.M. (7:15 for Cycle-Lite Ride)
Holt's Hustle or Bethesda Bump!
Cecil Lewis Park at Trinity, 3680 North Chapel Road, Franklin 37067
For a hot Saturday, Walt Matwijec will lead the ride from Trinity Park. Because of the heat, the ride will begin at 7:00! There are options of 34 and 49 miles. The Long route goes down to Holt's Corner for a rest stop. Much of that ride (the middle part) will be down in the flatlands of Marshall County. But there are some hills on the northern end for the start and finish. The Short route makes it to Bethesda for a rest stop at the nice Market there. Here are the cue sheets:
Holt's Hustle - Long route - 49 miles - GPS
Bethesda Bump - Short route - 34 miles - GPS
