Pancake Ride Revival!
Westhaven parking lot, 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin -- take Hwy. 96 west from Franklin, turn left on Westhaven Blvd., veer right onto State Blvd., and then take the very first left.
We quit calling our Sunday ride the Pancake Ride because nobody stopped for pancakes any more! But Bruce Green and Jerry Franks have decided to attempt a revival of that HBC tradition. Here's what Bruce says:
Jerry and I have been talking and have decided that we need to slow down every now and then and smell the coffee, roses, bacon, AND Pancakes. We are going to reinstitute the "Pancake" ride this Sunday as a "test" run. If it's successful maybe we can reinstitute it as a REAL Club Pancake Ride.
We are going to leave Westhaven at 8:30 sharp so we can ride 20 miles -- first the regular Sunday route on Parker Branch and Hargrove to Foxes, then down Garrison to Leipers Fork and Pucketts. They have a buffet-style line to order food, so it should be much faster than a sit-down-and-order type of place. We are trying to get to Pucketts around 10:00 to avoid the early rush and the lunch crowd. We will add miles after breakfast, but others can go back to Westhaven or come with us for another 15-20 miles. This will be a real recovery-pace ride, and Bruce and Jerry will serve as the leaders.

HBC Sunday Ride
Westhaven parking lot, 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin -- take Hwy. 96 west from Franklin, turn left on Westhaven Blvd., veer right onto State Blvd., and then take the very first left.
We will also have the regular Sunday ride from Westhaven for those who are not interested in pancakes. Here is a map to guide you to the parking lot at Westhaven. Westhaven Blvd. is directly across Hwy. 96 from the end of Old Charlotte at the big sign for Gentry Farm.

The standard Sunday route is 30 miles. Most members will add miles along the route, and at the start we will establish the approximate distance that various small groups intend to ride. The standard route goes out Boyd Mill, up Parker Branch, along Hargrove to Pinewood and Bending Chestnut, and back by Garrison, Bailey, and Alpakistan to the old Pancake route. Many riders will do a 50- or 60-mile ride, improvising the route as they go along. Here is the cue sheet for the standard 30-mile route:
