Memorial Day Urban Assault!
Centennial Park, 2500 West End Ave., Nashville 37203 - Parking Lot on West Side of The Parthenon
It's a Harpeth Club tradition to have an urban ride on the summer holidays! And, most appropriately, this Monday Bruce is taking us from The Parthenon up to the National Cemetery in Madison. We'll combine this with some interesting sights around the city on less-traveled roads. We'll go across the Pedestrian Bridge, ride on the Shelby Bottoms Greenway, circle around the old Cornelia Fort Airfield, and visit the National Cemetery in Madison. From there we'll climb around Skyline Medical Center and come back across the Bordeaux Bridge to see the very cute sheep at the Metro Center levee! Then we'll go through the Gulch to the Sounds ballpark, Music Row, and Hillsboro Village. There are numerous places for rest stops along the way.
The route is 40 miles. This is designed to be a fun and collegial ride. Larry has pre-ridden the route and will try to keep everyone on course, and Bruce will sweep to make sure of that! The full cue sheet with many notes about the route is at the link below. If the 40-miles aren't enough for you, Larry will be happy to extend the ride another 25 miles on the fast and challenging routes the 12 South/RedKite guys frequently ride!
